Public spotlight tour

You may encounter an eastern barred bandicoot, southern brush-tailed rock-wallaby, rufous bettong, eastern Bettong or maybe even an eastern quoll. These species are self-sustaining and co-existing in abundance across the landscape.

With less than 100 southern brush-tailed rock-wallabies remaining in the wild, this is one of the only places on earth you will be lucky enough to encounter them.

Group sizes are capped to ensure everyone has a great experience. The tour takes approximately 1.5-2 hours depending on the wildlife you encounter.

Tix: $50 adults, $35 children under 17 years, children under 5 years are free. Bookings essential.

Private spotlight tour

Why not experience Mt Rothwell with just your friends, family or your local community group? You can book a personalised private guided nocturnal spotlight tour that focuses on your group only. A minimum booking fee is required which will ensure your group has a special, tailored experience.

Maximum group size: 25 people (minimum fee $350 for groups of less than 7 adults).

Tix: $50 adults, $35 children under 17 years, children under 5 years are free. Bookings essential.

Private wallby walk

Take a guided walk through the woodlands and over granite outcrops, exploring diverse habitats while learning how ecologists monitor wildlife. Observe the critically endangered southern brush-tailed rock-wallaby thriving in their natural habitat (less than 100 remain in the wild).

Maximum group size: 25 people (minimum fee $350 for groups of less than 7 adults).

Into the Woodlands
Public Birdwatching tour

Rich in tree hollows, fallen timber and diverse understory shrubs, thanks to being protected from invasive predators, Mt Rothwell Sanctuary supports an exceptional diversity of birdlife, with around 160 species recorded.

Depending on the season, you may encounter wedge-tailed eagles, rainbow bee-eaters, zebra finches, southern whitefaces, eastern barn owls, restless flycatchers, white-winged trillers, brown-headed honeyeaters and much more.

Group sizes are capped at 12 to ensure everyone has a great experience. The tour takes approximately 3 hours.
